Some Great Road Rides

2008 Family Fun

Biking is family fun no matter where you go. We biked the boardwalk in Ocean City NJ in addition to several road rides and really had a great time.

2008 Crankin for a Cure

This was the Delaware Mason-Dixon ride for MS in the past and I must say it is a much improved route making it even better.

2007 French Creek Iron Tour

Our first time for this beautiful scenic ride that is nothing but hills!! What a shock.

2007 French Creek Iron Tour

We will need to practice on a lot of hills before we do this ride next year and I for one am getting too old for these hills.

2007 French Creek Iron Tour

Ron was the only one to complete the 25 mile ride and for the first time I think he really felt the pain of cycling on hills. Congradulations Ron, you did it!!

2007 French & Pickering Creeks Conservation

This organization was created to conserve "open space" and all of the French Creek Iron Tours are for this great cause.

Delaware Mason-Dixon Ride - 2007

Another year and another great ride. Only two of us this year. My biking team is getting smaller as time goes on.

Delaware Mason-Dixon Ride - 2006

This is a "get started" ride for the big MS 150. It is held in April and is a great training ride to do with family and friends.

Delaware Mason-Dixon Ride - 2005

Another year and another cool damp ride but we still did 25 miles.

Amish Country Tour - 2002

This ride is out of Dover Delaware in early September and offers multiple ride lengths, food and entertainment.

Delaware MS 150 Ride - 2001

Just arriving at the Rusty Rudder in Dewey Beach. Happy to have done the ride again especially after the 9/11 event. We were all given flags to put on our bikes.

Delaware MS 150 Ride - 2001

This was one of the few times that family members joined me at our ride destination. Needless to say, I was VERY happy to see them.

Delaware MS 150 Ride - 2001

The team did it again. Good Job !! Now all we need to do is ride back tomorrow....in the cold rain.

Delaware MS 150 Ride - 2000

Team Southco rides again with the largest team we ever had.

Delaware MS 150 Ride - 2000

Team Southco at that famous last rest stop. Yes that Tandum is a tripple and they really move.

Delaware MS 150 Ride - 2000

That last rest stop going down. It actually feels good to sit in a chair.

Delaware MS 150 Ride - 1998

Team Southco at 7:20 AM in front of Smyrna High School just before the start of our ride.

Delaware MS 150 Ride - 1998

The Last Rest Stop Before Dewey Beach. They didn't see the camera. Pure Pain !!

Delaware MS 150 Ride - 1998

The last rest stop before Dewey Beach. They are putting on a good show for the camera.

Delaware MS 150 Ride - 1998

A great dinner in Dewey Beach. Check out the tan!! Must have been another windy ride.

ACS Bike-A-Thon - 1998

The American Cancer Society offers a great ride from Philadelphia PA to Mays Landing NJ (about 67 miles). This is a charity ride that attracts thousands of Cyclists.

Delaware MS 150 Ride - 1997

Team Southco rides again.

Delaware MS 150 Ride - 1996

Team Southco is starting to grow. We started with just two riders in 1994 and now we qualify as a team. Having more riders = more fun.

Family Fun

Biking with family is fun anytime but it's especially great when on vacation at the Beach.

I have done the Delaware MS 150 from 1994 through 2001 and I can tell you that this is one of the best rides there is. It's well organized with great support, friendly people and super rest stops.

To see a person in a wheel chair with MS at the finish line in Dewey Beach, clapping as a token of thanks to you as you ride in,  will not only bring a tear to your eyes and make the pain vanish, it will make you glad and proud to have contributed by doing the ride. Charity rides are great.

Some Great Off Road Biking

A Fall Ride 2008 - Valley Forge

Some new riders join me for a trail ride from Betzwood Picnic area into Collegeville for a easy paced fall ride.

A Fall Ride 2007A - Lehigh Valley

The Gorge Trail is 25 miles at 2% grade down the mountain from White Haven to Jim Thorp.

A fall Ride 2007B - Lehigh Valley

It's fun to share the beautiful ride with new friends who like the outdoors and take a few photos.

A Fall Ride 2007C - Lehigh Valley

The Trail ride is great this time of year. We like to do this ride twice a year, spring and fall.

A Fall Ride 2006A - Lehigh Valley

They used these wooden planks to rescue people from the Gorge below. Their are several along the 25 mile trail.

A Fall Ride 2006B - Lehigh Valley

They have signs along the way to show the history of how the Gorge was used and worked.

The history and use of the rail served Gorge is fascinating!!

A Fall Ride - Lehigh Valley

The Gorge comes complete with rest areas and facilities.

A Fall Ride 2006G - Lehigh Valley

This sign was just added this year. Yes, there are Bears in this area!!

White Water Tours

This is a great way to start. Drive to White Water Rafting in the Poconos and they transport your bike and you to White Haven. Then they pick you up at the end of the trail and take you back.

White Water Tours - Poconos

This is real Mountain Bike Country. From nice trail rides to single track through the woods and rocks.

White Water Tours

Have lunch when you get back and visit the souvenir shop.

C & D Canal - South Side 2006

The Chesapeake & Delaware Canal has a trail on both sides. The South side ride goes from St. Georges DE to a Marina in Maryland.
