Biking for Charity

The following is a partial list of well known charity rides in the Greater Delaware Valley area, Delaware and Southern New York.

The Multiple Sclerosis Society has a ride called the MS150 in most States throughout the United States. These are 150 mile rides over a two day period (about 75 miles each day). These are generally great rides with good support and rest stops about every 12 to 15 miles. They offer lots of fun and if you ride with a team of friends or co-workers you will really enjoy the weekend. These are fun raising charity rides for MS research and support people with this disease.

These rides are normally listed on the National Multiple Sclerosis Society  Web Site under "MS Bike Rides". Check out the area in which you live to see if their is a ride in that you would like to do.

I have done the Delaware ride nine times and know several people that have done the "City to Shore" (PA, NJ) rides so pick the best ride for your skill level  and give it a try. It's for a really good cause.

  • The American Cancer Society also has charity rides in different regions of the United States. Check with your local ACS listings for details in your area. For the greater Philadelphia/Tri-state area see "Bike-A-Thon"

The longest ride choice goes from Philadelphia to Lenape Park in Mays Landing NJ. It's a one way ride for most people of about 67 miles with a tail wind. You get a bus ride back & they transport your bike in moving vans to the starting points. You can also meet your family in the park and enjoy a family outing complete with children's amusements, barbecue, and a Lake swim. I have done this ride a few times and it is a great ride.

Any other charity rides that you have done that should be added to the listed Just drop me a line and I will add the link.
